Craftsman Philosophy

Arts and Crafts (or “Craftsman”) Style ~~ its principles were formed by a set a great overarching values:

• Find joy in work
• Create objects that are not only well-designed, but affordable to everyone
• Live simply
• Stay connected to nature
• Maintain integrity of “place”

These ideals were expressed in artistic endeavors through hand-crafted objects, an uncluttered style of home decor, less of a separation between indoors and outdoors, and homes that were built of local materials.

This translates to our business with our philosophy of keeping products natural, buying local whenever possible, and only making products that are useful or beautiful.

A William Morris quote which resounds with us is:

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

We have used historic Arts & Crafts wallpaper to create our labels and marketing materials.
